Alumni meeting

Odessa welcomed the US embassy representatives: Karen Robblee (Assistant Cultural Affairs officer), and Vira Ternovska (Public affairs assistance). They were willing to meet participants of various programs funded by the Department of State. There were Alumni of the FLEX, Muskie and TEA program present at the meeting:

There were also two TEA Alumni (Anna Savchenko and Irina Nikolayenko). The Embassy representatives and the Alumni discusses various issues. Among which were embassy grants that are available to Alumni of different programs; difficulties that FLEX Alumni face without having an official premises for their meetings and office; advantages and possibilities of making FLEX Alumni community official public organization, etc. Besides there was a heated informative conversation on the upcoming presidential elections in the USA. Guests from the Embassy explained several comlicated aspects of the US electoral system that interested our Alumni.
All in all the atmosphere was warm and the guests were happy and smiling leaving our Alumni encouraged.

Published September 28th, 2006There was a special event at the EIC in Odesa: FLEX and UGRAD alumni meeting with Mr. William B. Taylor - the Ambassador of the United States of America to Ukraine! The friendly discusion wih Ambassador was very interesting and impressive.

Alumni had a great opportunity to discuss many issues about “U.S. - Ukraine” relations, USG programs and other. It was very exciting and important meeting for USG programs alumni wich they will never forget.
All alumni would like to thank Mr. Taylor for his time and openess, and thank Educational Advising Center for support and guidance.
This special event follwed a two days seminar “Possibilities of International Education after completing FLEX program” conducted at the Educational Information Center in Odesa.
Eurasia/South Asia Teaching Excellence and Achievement Program (TEA)
Published September 26th, 2006Program TEA is available for secondary schools’ teachers. It is open and administrated by IREX in Ukrainian. The applications are available at the center.
